Rainwater Harvesting Systems in Commercial and Public Buildings
Rainwater harvesting systems are increasingly being incorporated
in multiple occupancy commercial and public-sector developments
such as office buildings and school or hospital extensions.
Use of rainwater harvesting systems in such applications is not only good for the environment, but additionally makes excellent financial sense.
Such buildings frequently have large roof areas which of themselves present storm-water management issues; collecting this roof water for re-use helps to alleviate this problem.
Conversely, buildings with multiple occupancy have a high, and potentially
expensive, demand for toilet flushing water; using harvested rainwater
for this purpose therefore makes excellent financial sense and can
provide, alongside Enhanced
Capital Allowance considerations, very short investment pay-back
periods.
Distribution centres, too, with their requirement for fleet vehicle washing are an excellent example of the cost-effective application of rainwater harvesting. In short, any building with a large roof and a high-demand for non-potable water can at one and the same time use rainwater harvesting to help solve environmental storm-water management issues - and make very substantial savings on the use of mains water.
System Specification, Supply & Support
Freerain provides developers of commercial and public buildings with expert system specification services that will ensure the most cost-effective rainwater harvesting system is bespoke designed for their project.
System supply arrangements are equally efficient, with an experienced Freerain technical engineer available to provide installation support where needed. All commercial systems enjoy the benefit of the full Freerain warranty and after-sales support services.

Tanks.
For smaller systems we have a range of high strength ribbed polyethylene
tanks from our domestic range.
For projects requiring tanks between 6,000 Litres and above we can
supply GRP tanks, similar to the picture to the top right of this page.
These can be linked to create very large installations.
Above ground tanks are also available and these tend to be 6-19,000
litres in polyethylene (vertical farm tanks), but more we use sectional
tanks. These are built up in 1M2 sections to the requirements of
the site. These can be either internally or externally flanged.
Filters
In order to ensure the highest water quality is achieved and downstream
reliability it is essential that the correct pre-tank filter(s)
is integrated in to the rainwater harvesting system. In our range
we can supply filters suitable for roof areas of up to 5000 M2 and
greater. Secondary filtration is often used depending on the roof
material.
Pumps & Controls
Controlling the system is essential and therefore we have customisable
control systems.

Optional extras, upgrades and specialist components
From our wide experience we have realised the importance of a flexible
design to meet individual specifications, therefore we can offer
you a number of solutions, ranging from fully "potable"
drinking systems to pumped overflow and surface water management
solutions.
Monitoring panels
We provide montioring solutions bespoke to your project, they are popular with Schools, hospitals and other public buildings.
