Freerain Rain King System

Introduction

The Rain King system has been designed using the many of the components from our award winning full domestic systems. The Rain King system has been specifically developed to aid serious gardeners during long hot summers and especially where hose-pipe bans are in force.

By selecting only the most relevant components, we can provide exceptional value. By using our experience as a long-standing eco-developer, we understand how to produce a system, which is attractive to both installers and end-users.

Storage tank

Ribbed purpose made polyethylene tank, (high percentage of recycled material)

In most installations, this tank can be installed without the need for expensive and unenvironmentally concrete. This typically saves in the region of £400

Dome & Lid

Access chamber (polyethylene), with manhole cover

This replaces the need to purchase separate manhole cover and build brick access chambers. This not only saves a huge amount of time, but it also significantly reduces the over all installation costs.

Integrated filter

Leaf & grit filter to 1000 microns

With a single manhole, this system eliminates the need for calculated invert levels and removes unnecessary unsightly manhole lids. By blocking the majority of the access to the tank, this increases safety. Very simple maintenance, with no consumable parts.

Calmed inlet

Smooth entry of filtered water

Increases oxygen transfer to the stored water body and allows the water to enter towards the bottom of the tank, which helps circulate the tank. This allows high quality water to be stored for long periods.

Freerain pump

Automatic jet pump (on board controls), c/w dry run protection. 3.6 bar of pressure

Eliminates the need to have control panels in the house or garage. Therefore, the water can pump closer to the point of use. The automatic feature of the pump means that it is always ready as soon as you open the tap or pull the trigger. Dry run protection, means the pump will stop if there is insufficient water.

Ensures that the water is of the highest standard and the pump is completely protected

Suction hose

Suction hose, c/w floating intake and filter.

With easy standard connections, this ensures the pump is completely protected.

General system operation and considerations

In terms of the groundworks, you should aim to bring as many downpipes together as possible (up to 250M2 of roof) and then connect it into the side of the storage tank (4" push fit). An overflow must be provided and this could either be a soakaway or a stormdrain (or similar).

Three sizes of tanks are available and larger systems can be made by linking two or more tanks together at low level:

Rain King 1000

New for Spring 2008

The system includes:

1000L underground storage tank (2.02M Long x 0.9M wide x 1.35 high). With invert (water in) at 0.85M.

Stainless steel submersible pump (see technical specification) 1,200L/Hr @ 3.0 bar

Downpipe filter suitable for roof areas of 70M2. (see installation notes).

The above image shows the submersible pump neatly resting in the recess at the bottom of the storage tank. The image to the right shows the optional extra neck extension which can be used to increase the invert level by an additional 400mm.
